West Bengal Minister Jyotipriya Malik, arrested in a money laundering case related to ration distribution, said that this is a conspiracy of BJP against him.

Jyotipriya Mallick Arrested: Minister Jyotipriya Mallick, arrested in a money laundering case related to the ration distribution case worth several crores of rupees in West Bengal, fainted on Friday (October 27) during the hearing in the court. After this, Malik was taken to the balcony and given water. The court has sent him to ED custody for ten days. The investigating agency had conducted searches at Malik’s premises on Thursday (26 October). ED also searched his ancestral residence on Amherst Street. Then after several hours of interrogation, Jyotipriya Malik was arrested. After being arrested, TMC leader Jyotipriya Malik had said that I am the victim of a huge conspiracy. Malik also alleged that this conspiracy was hatched by BJP and its leader Subhendu Adhikari. Whereas BJP spokesperson Samik Bhattacharya said that TMC is immersed in corruption.

Mamta Banerjee had given this warning West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee had recently said that if anything happens to Malik, a police complaint will be filed because he was ill. He had many health related problems. He had called the entire matter as dirty politics of BJP.

Banerjee had claimed that all this was being done keeping the elections in mind. Actually, there are assembly elections in Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh, Telangana and Mizoram on different dates in November. Apart from this, there are Lok Sabha elections next year i.e. 2024.

What is the matter?

According to ED, the entire case pertains to alleged irregularities in the public distribution system and distribution of food grains during the Covid lockdown. It is necessary to interrogate Malik regarding this.
